431 BC- Peloponnesian War- It was a war between the Athenians and the Spartans in Ancient Greece which brought famine and destruction to all areas of Greece. The Spartans ultimately won because of their armada.
336-323 BC- Empire of Alexander the Great-Alexander the Great of Macedonia conquers the areas surrounding Greece, expanding the empire and increasing Greek influence in Europe.
27 BC-476 CE- Roman Empire- The Roman Empire was a massive expanse of land under Roman rule. It spread Roman culture and ideals before its fall in 476 CE.
1096 CE-1099 CE- The First Crusade- Pope Urban II led the First Crusade which achieved its goal of taking control of Jerusalem and then established Christian states there.
1299-1922- The Ottoman Empire- The Ottoman Empire spanned over the majority of Southern European countries. Though after a while, it lost most of its power, it was not completely dissolved until 1922.
710 CE-1492 CE- La Reconquista- Spain and Portugal wanted to get rid of the Spanish Muslims in the area and "reconquer" their land.
15th Century- The Age of Discovery- The Age of Discovery was the beginning of globalization and was a period when Europeans were exploring the Americas.
1490 CE-1547 CE- The Renaissance- The Renaissance was instrumental in Italy and was an age of reawakening and the adoption of old Greek and Roman ideals.
1635 CE-1659 CE- The Franco-Spanish War- This war was between Spain and France. France declared war because Spain was surrounded by Harsburg territories.
1936 CE-1939 CE- The Spanish Civil War- This was a war between those who were loyal to the democratic way of the government, and the Nationalist, which believed in falangism (extremely strict control and very right-winged) and was lead by Francisco Franco. Franco then led the country for 36 years.
