Colonial History: King Phillip and Alexander the Great were of Macedonia. King Phillip conquered Greece, but Alexander the Great led to the colonization of many countries in his proximity, which was a feat for the Macedonians and the Greeks. Macedonia was then taken over by the Roman empire in the 10th century AD. . The Romans began in Greece, and then worked their way to Macedonia. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the Ottoman empire was in control. This rule lasted for have a millennium. Macedonia then gained their independence, only to have it taken after the Balkan War. It was split between "Northern Greece" and "Southern Serbia." Then, Macedonia became a part of Yugoslav until the liberation in World War II, though it still dons the name "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia."
