Language
93% speak the official language of Italian, while 50% have native dialects as their native tongue. 1% of the entire population speak one of those dialects, Friulian. Others in the northern areas also speak Ladin, German, Slovene, and French. In the South, Albanian, Croatian, and Greek are popular. Catalan and Sardinian are spoken on the island of Sardinia.
Colonial History: Italy colonized a very large amount of Africa, including Somalia, Ethiopia, and Libya. While Rome itself conquered most of Europe, which you can read about here, the Kingdom of Italy colonized Albania as well. Though not as influential as its neighbors in the New World, it influenced most of Europe through the ROman Empire.
Major Attractions: Colosseum (Rome, Italy) – the Colosseum is a amphitheater, and is one of the largest built by the roman empire. It was a sport facility back when it was used. Now it’s very historical and reminds people of their roots.
Major Attractions: Roman Forum (Rome, Italy) - the Roman Forum was the heart of the Roman Empire, and is now a historic site. It is a rectangular plaza surrounded by ancient government buildings and is in the center of the city. It used to be the heart of the city.
